This great museum for the younger set makes it fun to learn about the Native American. Children can enter a tipi, sit in a dugout canoe, touch artifacts, play Indian games, and actively participate in learning about the life and culture of the American Indians.

School Groups will have a great time here. Each year the Museum emphasizes a different area of Native American culture. Past programs have included the Eskimo, Eastern Woodland, Southwest, and the Northwest Coast Indians. The Center is a registered NYC Dept. of Education vendor.

Activities include an Artifact Demonstration, where volunteers from the audience help demonstrate how the Indians built their shelters, made clothing, hunted, cultivated crops, used tools, cared for infants, and participated in ceremonies. Then comes a Puppet Show. This performance by pupeteers Tommy Cheng and Candece Tarply makes Indian legend come to life in a way that kids love and can relate to.

Finally, an Indian Workshop gets children involved in dancing, singing, using sign language, and other activities, all emphasizing the Native American's love of nature.

A photographic exhibit called, The North American Indian, reveals the dignity and spirit of the Indian way of life.

Kids have a unique opportunity to learn about an old and proud culture at the Children's Cultural Center of Native America.
